But Back to Me
I started taking self-portraits when I moved to New York City in 1993. I was 25 and knew no one, and I found life in Manhattan completely overwhelming, though exciting. It was as if I could not believe I was really here. The photos were proof.
And then, as I spent more time there, and my adventures led me to other places, I shot self-portraits in those locations too. The images became diary snapshots, a record of my life, a life I could not have imagined growing up in Orlando in the 1970s and 80s.
